Neil Fabricant is president emeritus of the George Washington University Graduate School of Political Management. He is former special counsel to a New York State senate majority leader, and legislative director of the New York Civil Liberties Union. He was the publisher and editor-in-chief of Empire State Report, a monthly magazine on New York State government and politics–one of several statewide magazines on government and politics sponsored by the Ford Foundation. In 2009, in response to Michael Bloomberg’s overturning of term limits, Fabricant along with journalist Nat Hentoff and former ACLU national director Ira Glasser, established a coalition of like-minded citizens, Fed Up New Yorkers, which published a free paper offering an insiders’ account of New York City politics under the Bloomberg regime. He is a life-long New Yorker.
